post Our most sustainable ever: discover the Summer 2019 runway show

Boldly feminine with laid-back attitude, our Summer 2019 runway show encapsulated the quintessential Stella McCartney woman in Paris’ opulent Opéra Garnier. Signature ease was subtly toughened and reworked in our most sustainable collection to date.

Models walked the runway to a high-powered playlist including JT Almon’s ‘Legendary’ (featuring Angelica Bass) and Jaded’s ‘Pancake’ (featuring Ashnikko). Guests included Haim, Alexa Chung, Will Peltz, Dree Hemingway and Isabella Huppert.

The collection heralded summer with a palette of washed-out neons and dirty pastels that felt classically Stella. Splashes of light khaki, nude and dream blue offered ease in the form of lightweight trenches and boyfriend blazers.

Statement moments included head-to-toe ocean blue tie-dye in organic denim and commanding lace knitwear looks in sustainable Egyptian organic cotton. The tie-dye effect continued across jersey T-shirts and knitwear.

Dresses made an entrance with features like wiggling zips, flowing sleeves and customisable extensions. Zips appeared throughout the collection as they strengthened soft fabrics or opened to release volume.

Menswear echoed the womenswear through palette, print and tailoring, with a subtle difference in attitude. All-over florals appeared on utilitarian cargo pants and jackets got the summer treatment in airy technical cotton twill.

Bags complemented the relaxed mood in fabrics like canvas and slouchy Eco Alter-Nappa. Stella organic cotton monogram bags were made for every eventuality in both mini and maxi sizes, while drawstring museum totes were elevated with saddle-stitch straps. Jewellery went playful with music note, heart, star and cannabis leaf pendants. Turbo-wrap sunglasses were amped-up in sporty colours.

We are excited to announce that—thanks to innovative fabrics like sustainable viscose, Eco Alter-Nappa and ECONYL® recycled nylon—the Summer 2019 collection marks our most sustainable to date, as part of our ongoing commitment to greener fashion.
